Both teams honored for ninth consecutive semester
WASHINGTON - After a semester in which it secured a historic sweep of the team titles at the Atlantic 10 Championship, GW swimming and diving has been recognized for its continued excellence in the classroom with College Swimming Coaches Association of America (CSCAA) Scholar All-America honors.
The GW women were honored after totaling a 3.53 cumulative GPA for the spring semester, while the men combined for a 3.34 GPA to land the award.
It's the ninth consecutive semester, and 21st time in the past 23 semesters, that both teams were recognized by the CSCAA for achieving a combined GPA of 3.0 or better. They were among 731 squads representing 441 schools across the country to earn the award this time.
Marissa Brannan, Brendan Conley, Erin McCarthy, Andrea Moussier and Courtney Sicinski earned perfect 4.0 GPAs this spring. The program had 26 student-athletes in all (17 women and nine men) post a 3.5 GPA or better for the semester, and 46 will be honored on the GW Athletics Academic Dean's List (3.00+).
Conley, Marek Osina and Carly Perri were honored on the A-10 All-Academic Team in April after helping GW to become the first program in two decades to sweep both conference titles. It was the second straight victory and fifth in six years for the men and second crown in three seasons for the women.
