GW looks for first-ever conference title
WASHINGTON -Â GW women's rowing is set to compete in the Atlantic 10 Championship this Saturday on the Cooper River in Pennsauken, N.J., with racing beginning at 8 a.m.
CHAMPIONSHIP HISTORY:Â The Buff & Blue are looking to build off two straight second-place finishes at the event in 2021 and 2019. Last year, GW's Varsity 8 and Second Varsity 8 placed second and the Varsity 4 came in third for a total of 47 points, one off the program record set in 2019 when GW won the gold medal in the V4 and earned 48 points.
Three current members of the program earned All-Conference accolades a year ago - Lauren Bennett (first team), Naomi Lee (second team) and Kathleen Westover (second team). Bennett was also named to the first team in 2019.
COACH ROBLES' TAKE:Â "Saturday should be full of good racing in a competitive field. We're certainly excited about the progress we've made this season and have prepared as much as we can to lead up to this moment. Now we just need to execute in all of our events to come out as champions."
SCHEDULE OF EVENTS:Â In addition to the scoring events of V8, 2V8 and V4, a non-scoring exhibition Varsity 4B race returns for the first time since 2013.
Varsity 4 Prelims - 8 a.m.
