GW lands All-Rookie honoree for second-straight season
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – Katie Hipp, Megan Patrick and Sophia Watkinson of GW lacrosse have earned Atlantic 10 honors, the conference announced on Wednesday.
Hipp was selected to the All-Rookie team after being GW's only first-year to start every contest this season. Hipp was instrumental to GW's defense and consistently matched up against the opponent's top attackers. Hipp ended the regular season with four caused turnovers and scooped up 20 ground balls. It's the second consecutive season that GW has had an All-Rookie selection after Bailey Aaron earned the nod in 2021.Â
Patrick picked up All-Academic recognition with a 3.73 GPA in political science. Patrick ended the regular season second in the A-10 in saves per game, averaging 11.69.
In her second season with the Buff & Blue after transferring from Drexel, Watkinson has earned All-Academic honors for her success in the classroom as a biomedical engineering major, carrying a 3.91 cumulative GPA. The Baltimore, Md., native put together a strong season on the field, tallying 13 goals and five assists across 14 starts. Â
