Colonials and Retrievers face off Tuesday at 6 p.m.
WASHINGTON - George Washington baseball continues its season-high eight-game road swing on Tuesday evening with a visit to Baltimore to face UMBC. First pitch between the Colonials and Retrievers is scheduled for 6 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT:
GW's pitching held Saint Joseph's potent offense in check for seven innings, but a costly error in the eighth allowed the Hawks to plate two runs and steal a 4-3 victory in Philadelphia. The win capped off a series sweep for SJU and pushed GW to 5-4 in A-10 play this season.
MIDWEEK OFFENSIVE NUMBERS:
Tuesday will be the 10th midweek game of the season for the Buff & Blue, and they have put up strong offensive stats in their first nine contests. Currently, GW is batting .319 with 65 runs and 102 total hits during midweek tilts.
Individually, Steve DiTomaso leads the way with a .415/.467/.634 slash line during weekday games, while five other Colonials' batters are hitting .300 or better.
PREVIOUSLY VS. UMBC:
Tuesday will be the second meeting this season between the Colonials and Retrievers, with the first matchup taking place just over a month ago at Tucker Field. In that contest, GW's pitching was sensational, allowing just seven hits in a 2-0 shutout. Logan Koester started for the Colonials and went 7.2 scoreless innings before turning the ball over to Chris Kahler and Benny Wilson to finish off the win.
Offensively, the Colonials plated their two runs thanks to an RBI single by DiTomaso and a sac fly off the bat of Noah Levin.
