Colonials score in five of the last seven innings during 13-5 rout
Early in the contest, George Washington faced some adversity. The Colonials trailed 2-0 in the first inning after starter Connor Harris gave up a pair of RBI singles to the top of the Golden Eagles order. However, GW buckled down and responded with two runs of its own in the bottom half of the inning. Eddie Micheletti Jr. plated the first run for the Colonials with an RBI double, his first of three hits, before Joe Biancone tied the game with a sac-fly.
In the second, GW took a 3-2 lead on a Mike Ludowig RBI single and never looked back. The Buff & Blue's offense scored in five of the final seven innings, including a five-run eighth that put the finishing touches on the W.
Offensively, Micheletti, Cade Fergus, and Ludowig all led GW with three hits. Ludowig also led the team with three RBIs. In total, the Colonials had eight different batters pick up a hit against the Golden Eagles, while six different batters tallied at least one RBI.
Up next, George Washington will host Hofstra in a three game weekend series from the Tuck. First pitch for game one between the Colonials and the Pride is scheduled for Friday, March 11 at 3:00 pm.
