Cross Country Ends Season on Historic Note with Strong Showing at NCAA Regionals

GW men’s and women’s teams earn best combined NCAA Regional finish in program history
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. – George Washington men's and women's cross country put an exclamation point on a strong 2022 campaign Friday afternoon, with the men taking home a program-best ninth place finish and the women earning an 11th place finish at the NCAA Mid-Atlantic Regional, hosted by Penn State.
For the men, Ryan Fowkes led all GW runners in the 10K, placing 28th and finishing in a GW record time of 30:49.9. Meanwhile, Yukino Parle paced the women's team in the 6K, finishing 38th overall in a time of 21:28.8.
NOTEWORTHY:
• The men's ninth place finish and the women's 11th place finish are the highest combined NCAA Regional finish in GW history.
• The men have now set a new high mark for team finishes in back-to-back NCAA regionals. Last year, the men finished a then program-best 13th overall.
• Individually, the men's team rewrote the 10K record books on Friday. In addition to Fowkes' program-best 10K time, Thomas Sand recorded the third-fastest time in GW history, Lucas Brown posted the sixth-fastest time, first-year Michael Bohlke checked in with the seventh-fastest time, and Kevin Conlon rounded out the record book with the 10th fastest 10K time in GW history.
