Buff and Blue to reveal men’s and women’s A-10 Championship banners
WASHINGTON - GW men's and women's swimming and diving is back in the pool at the Charles E. Smith Center for the first time this season, hosting Old Dominion and James Madison. The diving will begin at 9:45 a.m. followed by the swimming portion, scheduled for 1:30 pm. The entirety of the event will be streamed live on ESPN+.
For the first time in program history, GW will unveil two A-10 Championship banners at the same time. GW's women took home their second A-10 Championship in three years at the A-10 Championships, while the men secured its sixth A-10 Championship in seven years. Both banners will be unveiled just before the start of the swimming portion of the meet.
Last Time Out:
GW fell last weekend in its season-opener at Virginia Tech. The Hokies finished last season ranked on both the men's and women's side, and showed their prowess last weekend as they took down both reigning A-10 champions. Moriah Freitas had the highlight of the day for the Buff and Blue, winning the 200-yard fly by almost a full two seconds.
Scouting the Monarchs:
ODU is opening its season at Saturday's meet. The Monarchs took sixth at last season's Conference USA Championships on the women's side, and are led by All Conference USA nominee Tara Enneking. ODU has 20 newcomers this year, replacing about a third of its team from last year.
A Look at JMU:
JMU also will begin its season on Saturday. The Dukes are coming off a championship season of its own as their women won the 2022 ECAC Championship. Current junior Jess Pryne finished as the ECAC Championships Swimmer of the Meet, while Dukes' Head Coach Dane Pedersen took home Coach of the Meet.
