Cross Country Hits the Trails at ECU Pirate Invitational

GW heads to Greenville, N.C. for final tune-up before A-10 Championship
WASHINGTON - GW cross country laces up its running shoes on Friday when the men's and women's programs head down to Greenville, N.C. for the ECU Pirate Invitational. The competition will be the Buff & Blue's final meet before competing for the A-10 Championship on Oct. 29.
The women's 6K event will kick things off at 4:00 p.m., followed by the men's 8K competition at 4:45 p.m.
THE INVITATIONAL: East Carolina University will play host to GW and 17 other programs on Friday. The races will be held at Lake Kristi, which has been used as a venue for various cross country races including the NCAA Southeast Regional Championships. While GW will be the only A-10 program racing on Friday, they will face tough competition from the Carolinas, including NC State, Elon, College of Charleston, and host, ECU.
LAST TIME OUT: The Buff & Blue put together an impressive performance at the Paul Short Run, highlighted by a top-two team finish for the women in the B Flight and a bevy of personal best times on the men's side. In total, 16 different runners set personal records in Bethlehem, Pa., including Ryan Fowkes, whose time of 24:29.3 was the second-fastest 8K time in GW history.
