Volleyball Visits Coppin State, Hosts Loyola, Maryland Eastern Shore

Buff and Blue set to co-host Dig the District
WASHINGTON – GW volleyball will play three matches across four days this week, visiting Coppin State on Wednesday for a 5 p.m. start before returning home to host Loyola Maryland on Friday (7 p.m.) and Maryland Eastern Shore on Saturday (2 p.m.) as part of Dig the District.Â
GW will co-host the two-day tournament with Georgetown, with three additional matches being played across town. A neutral site contest between Maryland Eastern Shore and Loyola Maryland is scheduled for 11 a.m. on Friday at Smith Center.

LAST TIME OUT: The Buff and Blue went 0-2 at the Bellarmine Tournament this past weekend. Bella Bowman was named to the All-Tournament team after registering 26 digs across the two matches. Lauren LaBeck assisted on 29 attacks throughout the weekend, adding to her team-leading total of 112 assists. Â

Melody Williams led the GW offense in Friday's match with five kills, and Liv Womble led on Saturday with seven kills.

EYES ON THE EAGLES: Coppin State is 3-3 on the season, with Wednesday marking its first home contest of the year. Outside hitter Miajavon Coleman was named MEAC Co-Player of the Week after recording 48 kills over three matches last weekend. Coleman currently leads the conference with 4.05 kills per set and five double-doubles. Junior setter Andrea Tsvetanova also earned weekly honors after notching three double-doubles in three matches, averaging 7.83 assists, 3.42 digs and 0.50 blocks per set.
A LOOK AT LOYOLA:Â Loyola sits at 4-3 on the season and most recently tallied a pair of victories at the Towson Invitational. Senior outside hitter Abby Hamilton has recorded 90 kills to lead the Greyhounds' offense. Defensively, senior libero Katie Forsythe has accumulated 159 digs, hitting the double-figure mark in each of the team's seven matches this season. The Buff and Blue own a 13-1 record vs. the Greyhounds and last squared off in 2015 with GW coming out on top, 3-1.
SCOUTING MARYLAND EASTERN SHORE:Â The Hawks are 2-4 on the year following a 1-2 outing at the Delaware Invitational last weekend. Maya Hendricks, Alexis Lee and Mauri Carver have all registered more than 40 kills this season and hold the team's top three spots offensively. GW is 6-2 all-time vs. the Hawks, with the last meeting dating back to 2017 in favor of The Shore.
