Cross Country Returns This Week At Paul Short Run

WASHINGTON - GW cross country returns to competition on Friday when they travel north to Bethlehem, Pa., for the 47th Annual Paul Short Run. The men's events will begin at 9:30 a.m., while the women's competitions will get underway at 10:15 a.m..
THE COMPETITION:Â The Paul Short Run has become a staple of the GW cross country season, with the Colonial's taking part in the event every year since 2015. Last season, The Paul Short Run was cancelled due to the pandemic, but it makes it's return this year with a loaded field that includes host Lehigh, Georgetown, Army, Villanova, Navy, and Maryland, among others.Â
LAST TIME OUT: The Colonials continued their dominant start to the season, winning both the men's and women's competitions at the JMU Invitational. In the men's event, James Glockenmeier earned his first ever individual cross country win after finishing with a time of 25:43.5. On the women's side, Graduate Student Peri Pavicic took third with a time of 19:02.3, and was one of five Colonials to finish in the top 10.
A-10 RECOGNITION:Â Through the first two weeks of the Buff & Blue's cross country slate the A-10 awards have been rolling in. Following his successful first place finish at the JMU Invitational, James Glockenmeier was named A-10 Performer of the Week. Meanwhile, first-year Olivia Syftestad has taken home back-to-back A-10 Rookie Performer of the Week awards following her successful runs in the Mount St. Mary's Duals and the JMU Invitational.Â
