Volleyball Heads to Bellarmine Tournament

Bowman to play in front of home crowd
WASHINGTON – GW volleyball will head to Louisville, Ky., this weekend to play in the Bellarmine Tournament alongside Tennessee State.
Previously scheduled for a three-match weekend, GW will now play in a pair of contests, facing host Bellarmine on Friday at 7 p.m. and Tennessee State on Saturday at 11 a.m.
LAST TIME OUT: The Buff and Blue played around the District last weekend and will look to tally their first win of the season on Friday after dropping matches to Howard, American and Georgetown.
First-year Salem Yohannes put together an impressive debut, making three starts and registering 44 kills across the three matches. The Woodbridge, Va., native played her best volleyball at American, recording her first double-double of the season with 18 kills and 13 digs. Yohannes finished with 13 kills apiece in the matchups vs. Howard and Georgetown.
Bella Bowman leads the team with 52 digs and is third overall in the conference. Bowman recorded a season-high 28 digs in the team's home opener and hit the double-figure mark at American with 15 digs.
A LOOK AT BELLARMINE: Bellarmine is 0-3 on the season after dropping matches vs. Chicago State, Eastern Illinois and IUPUI. Seville Gates is the Knights' top offensive threat with 44 kills and 3.38 k/s. Anna Lococo sits atop the Bellarmine defense with 65 digs and five digs/s.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS: Tennessee State remains unbeaten after topping Alcorn State, New Orleans and North Alabama. In the Tigers' most recent win, Aleksandra Rojecka led the team with 10 kills.
