Men's Water Polo Nets ACWPC Academic Honors

Buff & Blue lauded for 3.23 cumulative GPA
WASHINGTON – GW men's water polo has placed a program-record 12 student-athletes on the 2020-21 Association of Collegiate Water Polo Coaches (ACWPC) Academic All-America Team.
In addition, the Buff and Blue were lauded as a team for their combined cumulative GPA of 3.23.
Gabriele Simonti (3.98 GPA) and Zachary Pendolino (3.78) led the way by earning "Outstanding" status, while Luca Castorina (3.53), Nik Schoening (3.51), Kalan Smith (3.48), Viktor Jovanovic (3.47), Chris Lee (3.46) and Nick Schroeder (3.42) secured "Superior" honors. Nicholas Polydefkis (3.37), Bender Russo (3.37), Antonin Kralj (3.33) and DJ Davis (3.20) made the "Excellent" list.
A junior Political Science major, Pendolino was honored by the ACWPC for the third straight season, while Simonti, a recent graduate with a degree in Psychology and the GW Athletics Senior Scholar Athlete, was honored for the second time.
Schroeder and Russo were also recognized for the second consecutive year with the rest earning a place on the list for the first time.
The 12 ACWPC Academic All-America selections eclipsed the previous program best total of seven, which was equaled in 2019, 2012 and 2007.
