Buff & Blue earned Sunday sweep
ST. LOUISÂ - GW softball completed another winning weekend of Atlantic 10 play with a Sunday sweep at Saint Louis.
The Buff and Blue downed the Billikens, 8-2, to begin the day before finishing the series with a 15-2 win in five innings.
After dropping the series opener on Saturday for its first A-10 loss, GW roared back with three straight convincing victories to improve to 15-1 in conference action.
The Colonials totaled 23 runs on 25 hits on the day, including five home runs to add to their single-season program record total.Â
GW 8, Saint Louis 2:Â The Buff and Blue secured a comfortable win thanks to an offense that pounded out 12 hits and waited out eight walks in the opener.
The visitors took control with a four-run first inning that included consecutive run-scoring walks from Hannah Eslick, Maggie Greco and Mia Parker with two outs.
After SLU answered with two in the bottom of the frame, Sierra Lange slammed a solo home run over the left-field fence. She'd add another solo shot in the sixth for the second multi-homer performance of her career and first since 2018.
Alexa Williams also drove in a pair in the victory with a first-inning RBI single and a fourth-inning sacrifice fly.
