Colonials and Cal State Fullerton tip-off at 10:30 p.m. ET
WASHINGTON -Â GW men's basketball wraps up its California swing on Tuesday evening, taking on Cal State Fullerton. Tip-off is scheduled for 10:30 p.m. on ESPN+.
THE NEW BIG THREE:Â Joe Bamisile, Brendan Adams and Ricky Lindo Jr., have all posted double figures in each of the first three games, combining for 47.7 ppg and providing 74% of GW's offense. The trio is the first set of teammates since Patricio Garino, Tyler Cavanaugh and Paul Jorgensen in 2015-16 to post three straight double-figure efforts to open the season. That year, Garino, Cavanaugh and Jorgensen combined for 44.0 ppg through the season's first three games.
The triumvirate of Adams, Bamisile and Lindo Jr. is the fourth-highest scoring in the A-10 with Richmond's Grant Golden, Jacob Gilyard and Tyler Burton (50.0 ppg) leading the way.
BLOCK PARTY:Â GW enters Tuesday's game ranked second in the NCAA with 19 blocks on the season and is second among teams that have played at least three games with 6.3 blocks per game. Ricky Lindo Jr. has been the primary catalyst with six rejections in the opener, and 10 total on the season, ranking second in the country individually.
PRESCRIPTION STRENGTH BAMISILE:Â Joe Bamisile burst onto the national scene in the opening week with his high-flying dunks and earned a spot on the Atlantic 10 Weekly Honor Roll for his effort. The former top-100 recruit transferred to GW after appearing in 13 games for Virginia Tech last season and scoring a total of 45 points. He's already surpassed that this year with 52 points in three games, ranking 36th in the nation in total points and 6th in the A-10 with 17.3 points per game.Â
A LOOK AT THE TITANS:Â Cal State Fullerton is 0-2 to start the campaign with a pair of road losses at Santa Clara (84-77) and San Jose State (78-76), the latter of which came at the buzzer. The Titans feature five players averaging double figures through the first two games, led by Vincent Lee and E.J. Anoskie at 15.0 ppg. Anosike has grabbed 19 rebounds in the first two games (9.5 per game), 10 of which have come on the offensive end.
The Titans have scored 68% of their points from 2-point range this year per KenPom, ranking 14th in the country in the metric. Fullerton was 6-9 (5-7 Big West) a year ago and is projected to finish seventh in the league this year.
Despite having never played the Titans, GW has played at Titan Gym as part of the 2013 Wooden Legacy. The Colonials' matchups with Miami and #25 Marquette were played on Fullerton's campus.
