Hayley Sabol and LeighAnn Stauffer join GW Lacrosse as Assistant Coaches.
WASHINGTON - Hayley Sabol and LeighAnn Stauffer have been named assistant coaches to the GW lacrosse program, head coach Jennifer Ulehla has announced.Â
"I am pleased to welcome LeighAnn and Hayley to our GW Lacrosse family. I have great respect for their successful playing careers in the Atlantic 10 conference and recognize those experiences as a competitive advantage for our team. I am certain LeighAnn and Hayley's collegiate coaching experiences have prepared them for the next phase in their professional development. Their skill, knowledge and confidence will immediately impact our program and more importantly, the lives of our student-athletes. It's an honor and a privilege to work alongside such outstanding young coaches," said Ulehla.Â
Sabol comes to GW after being an assistant at The College of Saint Rose during its inaugural season. Sabol helped with player skill development, scouting and recruiting. She also supported the team's community service and fundraising efforts.
Sabol completed her collegiate career at Saint Joseph's University. Sabol was named to the 2016 A-10 All-Rookie Team and penned her name in the record book for most games ever played in SJU history.
"I want to thank Head Coach Jennifer Ulehla and the George Washington University for the opportunity to join the Buff and Blue family. GW Lacrosse is a competitive force in the A-10 Conference and I am grateful to be able to be a part of the journey to an A-10 Championship. I am eager to contribute to the success of this program and ready to build relationships with the team and the rest of the Buff and Blue Athletics Department."
Sabol earned a Bachelor's of Science degree in Business Administration. A native of Manchester, Vermont, Sabol attended Burr and Burton Academy. In 2017, Sabol organized and managed the Burr and Burton Youth Lacrosse Camp for young girls in grades 1-8.
Stauffer's coaching career began at Edinboro University of Pennsylvania where she was the graduate assistant during the 2017-18 season, later being named head coach in August of 2018.Â
Stauffer previously worked as a coach for the Relentless Hustle Elite Lacrosse Club and was an official for the Rochester Board of Women's Lacrosse Officials.Â
Stauffer played for St. Bonaventure from 2013-17. She was a two-time Second Team All-Atlantic 10 honoree. In 2017, she was named Best Senior Female Athlete at St. Bonaventure. She ranks in the top twenty in career scoring with 95 goals and 20 assists. In 2015, Stauffer finished with a team-high 30 goals.Â
"I am extremely excited and grateful for the opportunity to join this team and start this new journey. I know that the team will come back eager to play after missing out on so much this past year. I expect that we will work hard and have fun through it all. If we do that as a coaching staff and team we will be in a great place moving forward."
Stauffer earned her Bachelor's Degree in Psychology and Sociology in May of 2017 and holds Masters in Education and Educational Psychology. She is a licensed school psychologist in the state of Pennsylvania. In her hometown of Rochester, New York, Stauffer attended Rush-Henrietta High school where she played lacrosse and basketball.Â
