George Washington University Athletics
A Letter to Alumnae from Coach Ulehla

I wanted to reach out and connect with all of you given how much has changed for GW Athletics since March. When our spring season was cut short, we asked our team to rely on the resiliency they've nurtured as student-athletes. As the summer continued, we held weekly Zoom meetings, which allowed us to grow in new ways. This was definitely a silver lining of COVID and provided this team an opportunity to build a strong foundation for a new culture. As we start this new academic year, there are more bright spots about our program that I wanted to share with all of you. We will have all of our first-year lacrosse players returning to live on campus while most upperclassman will live off-campus. We will use this fall to train and prepare for the spring season. While the university is taking immense precautions, our goal is to provide an outlet for student-athletes and allow them to participate in a sport that they are so passionate about.
I would be remiss not to mention the difficult news we announced last month about the discontinuation of seven varsity sports effective at the end of this year. I'm sure many of you were close to alumni of those respective programs and I share the feelings of loss with you.Â
As we move into the 2020-21 season, I thank you for your steadfast commitment to GW. I will work to demonstrate the highest forms of discipline and excellence for GW Lacrosse and honor your contributions to this team.Â
Jenny UlehlaÂ
