Colonials look to improve upon 6-1 home record
WASHINGTON - GW is back at The Tuck this weekend for a three-game series against Monmouth. First pitch on Friday is scheduled for 2:30 p.m., followed by a 1 p.m. first pitch on Saturday and a noon start on Sunday.
LAST TIME OUT: The Colonials grinded out a 4-2 victory over William & Mary on Tuesday to improve to 6-1 on their home turf. Sophomore Noah Levin collected three hits to extend his hitting streak to six in a row and bump his season average up to .400. First-year Connor Harris was dominant in relief, earning his first career save by retiring 11 of the 12 batters he faced, including the first 10 in a row.
TWO-BY-TWO: Levin's six-game hitting streak has been accentuated by three multi-hit games including his 3-for-4 showing against the Tribe on Tuesday. The Tarzana, Calif., native is hitting .455 (10-for-22) during the stretch, recording three doubles and driving in six to aid his team-highs in all three categories. Within the conference, Levin is fourth in both average (.400) and OBP (.529), thanks to his 10 walks, which also rank fourth.
PITCHING IN PERSPECTIVE: GW's 3.86 team ERA is fourth in the A-10. Overall, the Colonials have allowed five earned runs or fewer in nine of their 12 games with the three outliers coming against the nation's top offense in Tennessee. Taking out the three games against the undefeated Volunteers from the SEC, GW's ERA would be a conference-best 2.33.

FLIP THE SCRIPT: Last season, the Colonials' success was predicated on their league-leading offense, topping the A-10 in average (.292) and ranking second in scoring (7.0 runs per game) compared to a 5.46 ERA that placed 10th. This year, it's been the reverse with GW ranking fourth in ERA (3.86) to set the tone for the team.
ABOUT THE HAWKS: Monmouth continues its season-opening 19-game trek across the country this weekend, entering play 3-7 on the year following a three-game sweep at San Diego last weekend. So far, the Hawks are hitting .234 as a team (4th in the MAAC) and hold a 4.96 ERA (3rd in the MAAC). Monmouth was 27-29-1 a year ago and is projected to finish fifth in the preseason MAAC poll, a spot ahead of Marist, whom GW took two of three from two weekends ago.
GW owns an 8-4 advantage in the all-time series, winning two out of three in the last encounter two years ago.
