WASHINGTON – A total of seven George Washington gymnasts were selected to All-East Atlantic Gymnastics League (EAGL) Teams, the league announced Wednesday.
A trio of Colonials earned a pair of honors, including senior co-captain Cydney Crasa, junior Anna Warhol, and sophomore Deja Chambliss.
Crasa picked up Second Team All-EAGL honors with her 9.805 NQS on vault and First Team All-EAGL recognition with her 9.850 NQS on floor. The Stony Brook, New York, native, finished her senior season with seven vaults above a 9.800 and nine scores above a 9.800 on floor, including a career-high 9.900.
Warhol also put together a strong 2020 season, finishing her junior campaign with a pair of Second Team All-EAGL honors on bars (9.795 NQS) and floor (9.795 NQS). The biomedical engineering major added floor to her repertoire this season, hitting all nine routines and scoring above a 9.725 in each appearance. Warhol also set a pair of career-highs on both events with a 9.875 on bars and 9.825 on floor.
In her breakout sophomore campaign, Deja Chambliss earned First Team All-EAGL recognition on vault (9.865 NQS) and Second Team honors on bars (9.790 NQS). The Chesterfield, Va., native was hitting her stride at the end of the season, either matching or setting new career highs on all four events in the squad's final weekend of competition. Chambliss was the only Colonial this season to hit a 9.900 on a pair of events (vault and floor) and also boasts personal-best scores of 9.825 on bars and 9.825 on balance beam. In her first season competing in the all-around, the sophomore earned a spot on the all-around podium at every meet since her debut at Denver (Feb., 16) and scored above the 39.000 threshold in all five meets, including a pair of career-high 39.400s to wrap 2020. Chambliss needed to compete in the all-around at one more meet to contirbute to an NQS score.
For the second straight season, junior Hannah Cohen paced the team on beam with her 9.855 NQS to earn First Team All-EAGL recognition. After sitting out the first three meets due to injury, Cohen returned in dominant fashion, scoring a career-high 9.900 in her 2020 debut. The Dix Hills, New York, native hit all of her nine beam routines and paced the squad with eight scores above a 9.825.
The sophomore duo of Simone Banen and Olivia Raymond also earned Second Team All-EAGL honors on bars. Banen finished the season with a 9.795 NQS after scoring above a 9.750 at nine meets.
