Colonials open eight-game homestand on Tuesday
KNOXVILLE, Tenn. -Â After giving one of the nation's seven remaining undefeated teams all it could handle over the first two days of this weekend's series, GW baseball was held in check on Sunday, falling 10-0 to #19 Tennessee.
The Volunteers jumped on senior starter Elliott Raimo with a pair of runs in the first inning and never looked back, knocking Raimo out of the game by the third inning and ultimately scoring in six of their eight at-bats.
Offensively, the Colonials mustered seven hits, including a pair from first-year Ervin Bogan, who registered his second career multi-hit game in the process. Sophomores Cade Fergus and Noah Levin each recorded a double for GW's extra-base knocks.Â
The Buff & Blue were able to get 15 position players in the game as well as five different hurlers, giving them experience in a hostile SEC environment.
GW will now take comfort in spending most of the month of March at Tucker Field at Barcroft Park. The Colonials kick off a string of eight straight, and 16 of the next 18, at their home ballpark on Tuesday when they welcome William & Mary to town. First pitch is scheduled for 2:30 p.m.
