Colonials to get a taste of the A-10 Championship course
WASHINGTON - GW cross country returns to action on Friday with its second race of the fall, the Mason Invitational held at the Oatlands Plantation in Leesburg, Va. The women's 5k race begins the festivities at 4:30 p.m., followed by the men's 8k at 5:15 p.m.
INSIDE INFO: Friday's races will serve as a precursor for the Atlantic 10 Championship, which will be held at the same course on Nov. 2. The meet also stands as the first opportunity for the Colonials to square off against conference competition with Duquesne, George Mason, Richmond, Saint Joseph's and VCU also attending the meet.
LAST TIME OUT: GW opened its season two weeks ago at the Mount St. Mary's duals with the women claiming a fourth-place finish and the men taking sixth. Suzanne Dannheim was GW's top finisher, placing third on the women's side, followed by four harriers - Olivia Horgan, Mariah Moro, Brittany Wilkinson and Jenna Pressman - who set PRs.
FIRST IMPRESSIONS: The men's team at Mount St. Mary's featured seven newcomers to the lineup of the 11 Colonials who competed. The top five finishers were all new to the cross country team, led by Juan Moscoso, who topped the squad with a 17th place finish. He was joined in the top-40 by first-years Alex Longeway and James Glockenmeier, as well as sophomore Isaiah Robyne, who is in his first year competing with cross country.
