Volleyball Unveils 2019 Schedule

Colonials host 11 matches including season-opening tournament
WASHINGTON - GW volleyball head coach Sarah Bernson announced the team's 2019 slate on Friday, featuring 11 home matches at the Charles E. Smith Center. Season and single-game tickets will go on sale in July. Fans can register to receive more information about tickets here.
"The 2019 schedule provides a wide array of challenges for us this year, which is needed for our strengthened squad," Bernson said. "Since January, we have been working relentlessly on our team's speed and discipline. With our preseason exposing us to a variety of challenging opponents, we will have the ability to test ourselves and work into a good rhythm by the start of Atlantic 10 play."
The annual DC Challenge makes its return to the Smith Center with GW having the privilege of hosting the entire tournament this season. GW will battle local foes American and Howard along with Hartford on August 30-31.
The Colonials then hits the road for consecutive tournaments at Miami (Sep. 6-8) and East Carolina (Sep. 13-14) before a home non-conference match with Albany on September 15.
Following a final non-conference tournament at Texas State (Sep. 20-21), the Buff & Blue start Atlantic 10 play with five of its first seven matches at home, opening up with a local showdown against George Mason (Sep. 28).
Following a trip to Duquesne (Oct. 4) and La Salle (Oct. 6), GW welcomes in Saint Louis (Oct. 11), Dayton (Oct. 12), the Explorers (Oct. 18) and the Dukes (Oct. 19) over the next two weekends.
A six-game road trip follows with a non-conference visit to Norfolk State (Oct. 21) and conference treks to Dayton (Oct. 25), Saint Louis (Oct. 27), Davidson (Nov. 1), VCU (Nov. 3) and George Mason (Nov. 8).
The regular season wraps up at home with Fordham (Nov. 15) and Rhode Island (Nov. 16) visiting Foggy Bottom. The Atlantic 10 Championship, hosted by Rhode Island, will take place from November 22-24.
