All-Ivy League middle blocker joins Colonials for 2019 campaign
WASHINGTON - GW volleyball head coach Sarah Bernson announced the addition of All-Ivy League middle blocker Caroline Sklaver to the team's roster as a graduate transfer for the 2019 season. Sklaver is the second graduate transfer of a now five-person incoming class for the Colonials this fall.
"Caroline is an experienced college student-athlete as a middle blocker who has contributed to a winning culture," Bernson said. "Her knowledge and skill set, along with fellow graduate transfer Paty Valle, will greatly enhance this squad in addition to the three talented first-years that join our program."
Sklaver was an All-Ivy League Honorable Mention performer for a Princeton team that went 12-2 in league play in 2018 and 19-6 overall. She finished third in the conference with a .306 attack percentage and was second on the team with 0.72 blocks per set.
She was previously a Second Team All-Ivy League selection in 2017 when Princeton won the Ivy League championship. She led the Tigers that year with 82 blocks, ranked second in hitting percentage (.345) and third in total kills (221).
"I am very excited to play at GW and for the opportunity to continue playing high level volleyball while attending a great graduate program," Sklaver said.
Sklaver, originally from Miami Beach, Fla., missed her freshman year in 2015 with an injury and will have one year of eligibility remaining for GW this fall.
