Maria Siopacha Named A-10 Player of the Week

Senior lifts women’s tennis to perfect weekend
WASHINGTON – George Washington women's tennis senior Maria Siopacha has been named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.
Siopacha helped lift the Colonials to a perfect weekend, defeating Massachusetts, 4-3, on Saturday and Rhode Island, 4-0, on Sunday.
The Limassol, Cyprus native had a strong showing against the pair of conference opponents and finished the weekend without dropping a set.
Siopacha won both her singles matches at #1, topping Massachusetts' Janja Kovacevic, 7-6(5), 6-3, and Rhode Island's Erin Chratian, 7-6(3), 6-4. In doubles play, the senior partnered with Melis Bayraktaroglu to down both A-10 foes at the top spot.
The Colonials will be back in action this weekend when they face Georgetown at the College Park Tennis Center on Friday at 9 a.m. before returning to the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center on Sunday to host VCU at 2 p.m.
