Kummer Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

Softball newcomer hit .500 last week
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - Morgan Kummer of GW softball was named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week on Monday after reaching base in all five games last week.
Kummer helped the Colonials to a 3-2 mark by posting a .500/.529/.625 slash line with two RBIs and four runs scored. The first-year from Wisconsin totaled eight hits in 16 at-bats, including the first two three-hit games of her career.
Kummer went 3-for-4 with a pair of doubles, two RBIs and two runs scored in an 8-1 win over Morgan State on Wednesday before posting three more hits with two runs scored in Saturday's 7-5 comeback win at Saint Joseph's to complete a doubleheader sweep and secure an A-10 series victory.
It's the first A-10 weekly honor for Kummer, who raised her batting average to .392 (29-for-74) with 12 RBIs and 13 runs scored in her rookie campaign. She's the first Colonial to win the award since Jenna Cone on April 10, 2017.
GW (25-11) is back in action on the Mount Vernon Campus on Wednesday, hosting Delaware State for a doubleheader with a 1 p.m. first pitch.
