Women’s Tennis Takes Pair of A-10 Weekly Honors

Grubac named Co-Player of the Week, Marinkovikj tabbed as Rookie of the Week
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – The George Washington women's tennis team has claimed two Atlantic 10 weekly awards. Senior Sara Grubac has been named Co-Player of the Week while first-year Katarina Marinkovikj earns Rookie of the Week honors, marking the second weekly recognition for each.
Grubac and Marinkovikj were part of a complete team effort that saw the Colonials open A-10 action with back-to-back victories over Fordham, 5-2, and Duquesne, 4-3, over the weekend.
Partnering up in doubles play, the pair helped the Colonials secure the early point in both matches as they took down Fordham's Arina Taluyenko and Nicole Li, 7-5, on Friday and then Duquesne's Margo Pessy and Aishwarya Kona, 6-2, the next day.
In singles play, the duo finished the weekend without dropping a set.
GW will be back in action this weekend when it hosts Liberty on Friday at noon at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center before welcoming Towson to the District on Sunday for an 11 a.m. matchup.
