Sailing Opens Spring with Three Regattas

The Colonials hosted the GW Team Race and took second place
A second-place finish at the GW Team Race in Arlington, Va., highlighted the results for the GW sailing team in a trio of regattas over the weekend.
GW TEAM RACE (2ND OF 6) | FULL RESULTS
In the first Team Race league qualifier of the season, the Colonials picked up valuable points towards qualifying for the conference championship in this discipline with a second-place finish. In three round robins across Saturday and Sunday, the Colonials had an 11-4 record while Georgetown took first place with an undefeated 15-0 mark.
ODU WOMEN'S (10TH OF 13) | FULL RESULTS
In its lone fleet race of the weekend, GW picked up valuable experience against an interconference field at Old Dominion, finishing 10th among 13 teams. While the Colonials got off to a slow start on Saturday, they finished strong amid challenging conditions on Sunday, with six finishes in the top half of the field in the 12 races completed. Aitana Mendiguren and Sarah Noyes took a fourth-place finish in A Division, with three first-place showings in 12 races.
BOB BAVIER TEAM RACE (8TH OF 9) | FULL RESULTS
With part of their Team Race squad back home, the Colonials tested their depth in a field that included five schools which finished in the top eight of last year's Team Race Nationals, including champion College of Charleston. GW, which took eighth place at Nationals last season, finished with a 3-16 record to take eighth place.
UP NEXT: Two events are on the docket next weekend, with GW headed to the St. Mary's Team Race and the Navy Spring Women's.
