
Gymnastics Tops Field to Win Pink Meet

Colonials post season-high 195.400
WASHINGTON - After three straight meets on the road, the George Washington gymnastics team returned home to the Charles E. Smith Center on Friday night and put up its best performance of the season, earning a season-high 195.400 to top the field at its annual Pink Meet.
The Colonials totaled their 195.400 behind team scores of 48.675 on vault, a season-high 48.975 on bars, 48.675 on beam, and a season-high 49.075 on floor. New Hampshire finished second with a 194.925, while Yale took third (194.050) and William & Mary finished fourth (189.925).
Fifth-year co-captain Alex Zois finished the day at the top of the all-around podium for the fourth time this season with her season-high 39.300. The Crofton, Md., product made four podium appearances, posting a new season-high on vault (9.775), matching her season-high on bars (9.825) and scoring a career-high matching 9.900 on floor.
In addition, the Colonials made a combined eight appearances on the podium while four gymnasts either matched or surpassed their career-highs in GW's season-best meet.
ROTATION ONE
The Colonials kick-started their night on vault, posting a 48.675. For the second straight meet, Julia McLaughlin brought the heat and matched her career-high score of 9.800 to pace the squad and earn the outright top spot on the podium. Fellow co-captain Zois followed closely behind with a season-high 9.775, a score that earned her second place, while Cydney Crasa earned a 9.750 to complete the podium sweep for the Buff and Blue. Olivia Zona added a 9.700 and Chloe Vitoff posted a 9.650 to round out the GW score.
ROTATION TWO
GW continued its momentum on bars, surpassing its season-high score for the second straight meet with a 48.975. Zois led the squad with a season-high matching 9.825 to finish third, followed by a trio of 9.800s from Simone Banen, McLaughlin, and Anna Warhol. For Warhol, the 9.800 marked a new career-high. First-year Olivia Raymond added a season-high matching 9.750 to close out the second rotation.
ROTATION THREE
The squad then took to beam for the third rotation, recording a team score of 48.675. Sophomore Hannah Cohen registered a team-high 9.850 to finish in a tie for third, with Zois following close behind with a 9.800. In her beam debut, Zona scored a 9.725, while Banen added a 9.700 and Brooke Bray finished with a 9.600.
ROTATION FOUR
The Colonials had their best event of the night on floor, posting a season-high 49.075. After either surpassing or matching her season high on two events, Zois continued her momentum in the final rotation with a career-high matching 9.900 performance, earning the outright floor title. Crasa also had a stellar performance on floor, finishing in a tie for second with a 9.825, while Rachel Kaplan posted a career-high 9.800 along with Banen. Katya Karpova rounded out the GW season-high with her own season-high matching 9.750.

The Colonials will now head to Oklahoma City to compete at the Perfect 10 Challenge next Friday, February 15. The meet is contested on podium, an elevated competition floor as seen at the NCAA Gymnastics National Championship, and will feature the Colonials clashing with the 2018 NCAA Gymnastics National Championship runner-up, and currently No. 1 ranked team, Oklahoma, along with 2018 NCAA Regional qualifiers Washington and Arizona State, who currently sit at No. 15 and 19, respectively.
