Marinkovikj Named A-10 Rookie of the Week

First-year helps GW to third straight victory
NEWPORT NEWS, Va. – George Washington women's tennis first-year Katarina Marinkovikj has been named Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week, the conference announced on Tuesday afternoon.
After joining the Colonials in the spring, Marinkovikj has made an immediate impact in the lineup, helping lead the squad to its third straight victory over the weekend.
On Saturday, the Skopje, Macedonia, native helped GW take the decisive doubles point against Navy, pairing up with senior Sara Grubac to post a 6-2 victory over the Midshipmen's Aimee Dervishian and Annalise Klopfer. Marinkovikj also notched a win in singles play, defeating Dervishian in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1.
The first-year is one of three Colonials to finish the last three matches unbeaten, as GW also knocked off Howard (Feb. 1) and Maryland (Feb. 2).
