Women’s Tennis Opens Home Slate on Friday

Colonials host Howard on Friday, travel to Maryland on Saturday
SERVING FIRST: The George Washington women's tennis squad will open their home slate on Friday afternoon when they welcome local rival Howard to the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center (STLC) for a 1 p.m. bout.
LAST TIME OUT: Last weekend, the Colonials opened their spring season on the road at Penn State, falling, 7-0. Despite the loss, three Colonials went to extra points in singles play, including a 7-6 (7-5), 7-6 (8-6) battle at No. 2 from Melis Baytraktaroglu. First-years Katarina Marinkovikj and Xenia de Luna also made their Buff and Blue debut on Sunday morning.
ABOUT HOWARD: The Bisons were swept, 7-0, last weekend in their season opener at James Madison.
SERIES HISTORY: GW downed Howard, 6-1, last spring. The Colonials hold a 10-1 advantage in the series history.
ON DECK: Following their match with Howard, the Buff and Blue will make the short trip to College Park to face Maryland on Saturday at noon. The Terps topped GW, 6-1, in 2018.
