Men's Water Polo's Destici Named Defensive Player of the Week

Junior helped Colonials to 4-0 weekend at Navy Open
BRIDGEPORT, Pa. - George Washington's Atakan Destici has been named the Mid-Atlantic Water Polo Conference Defensive Player of the Week, the league announced Tuesday.
Destici anchored a GW defense that allowed an average of 8.25 goals over four wins at the Navy Open, including a three-steal effort in the weekend finale against Salem International. The junior from Turkey also finished the season-opening tournament with 11 goals and 11 assists.
This is the second career MAWPC weekly award for Destici, who was named Player of the Week on Nov. 27, 2017. He was named to the MAWPC All-Conference First Team in both 2016 and 2017.Andras Levai earned a spot on the Player of the Week honor roll after racking up 11 goals, eight assists and nine steals at last weekend's event, while Josh Yardley (nine goals, four assists and seven steals) was recognized on the Defensive Player of the Week Honor Roll.
GW (4-0) is back in action this weekend at the Princeton Invitational.
