Swimming & Diving Opens Season at CSCAA Open Water Nationals

GW women took fourth with the men in sixth
LAWRENCE, Kan. – George Washington swimming and diving opened its season Saturday at the College Swimming Coaches Association of America Open Water National Championship.
The women's team took fourth out of 14 squads in the 5K race at Lone Star Lake, headlined by a 15th-place finish from sophomore Tali Lemcoff. The men finished sixth out of 12 teams with junior Moritz Fath leading the way in 12th.
The GW women improved two spots from last year's showing at the unique season opener. Lemcoff was the first Colonial to the finish in 1:04:54.85, followed by Gemma Atherley (23rd), Andrea Moussier (30th) and Erin McCarthy (32nd).
Fath paced the men for the second straight year, shaving nearly two minutes off his time in 1:00:11.97. First-years DH Hwang (17th) and Josh Legge (26th) were next with Emils Pone in 33rd.
UP NEXT: The Colonials have two weeks to prepare for their first traditional competition of the season. They'll head to the FIU Fall Classic on Oct. 5-6.
