Bowman Garners Rookie of the Week Honor

First-year libero earns first career accolade
WASHINGTON - GW volleyball libero Bella Bowman was named as the Atlantic 10 Rookie of the Week for Sept. 10-16, it was announced on Monday. This is the first career honor for the first-year from Louisville, Ky.
Bowman has anchored GW's defense throughout the campaign, serving as the team's libero in all 11 matches and appearing in all 44 sets. This weekend in the Dig The District Invitational, Bowman racked up 48 digs and averaged 4.36 per set, both team highs. Her 22 digs in the five-set comeback win over Morgan State on Saturday marked the fifth time this season she has totaled at least 20 digs in a match. Bowman has tallied at least 11 digs in every match this year.
Bowman has ranked among the leaders in the Atlantic 10 in the category all season, with her 4.52 digs per set ranking third in the league and her 199 total digs ranking fourth through four weekends of play. Both are tops among rookies in the conference, while Bowman is seventh nationally among first-years in digs per set.

Winners of four straight, GW returns to the Smith Center this weekend to open A-10 play against Saint Louis on Friday at 7 p.m. and Dayton on Saturday at 5 p.m.
