Colonials drop 3-0 decision to James Madison
WASHINGTON – The George Washington women's soccer squad fell to James Madison, 3-0, in its non-conference finale on Sunday afternoon at the GW Soccer Field on the Mount Vernon Campus.
HOW IT HAPPENED
• 17th Minute: The Dukes came out hot in the first half, recording three shots and two corner kicks in the opening 15 minutes. James Madison was able to open the scoring with a shot straight down the middle from Haley Crawford.
• 20th Minute: JMU continued to press the Buff and Blue defense and was able to find the back of the net again off of a header from Brittany Borum.
• 48th Minute: The Dukes continued their momentum from the first half with an early goal in the game's second stanza. After a JMU corner kick, the Dukes tallied two shots, one that hit the post and one that hit the cross bar, before Sophie Brause was able to kick the ball past the reach of keeper Anna Tapen.
NOTEWORTHY
• The Colonials wrap up their non-conference slate with a 4-3-1 record, with two of those losses coming against nationally ranked opponents: No. 11 Georgetown and No. 13 NC State.
• Beth Ellinport made her first career start against the Dukes.
• Keeper Anna Tapen faced 13 shots and made 10 saves in today's contest.
