Colonials Take to the Sand to Open Bernson's Second Season
WASHINGTON - Second-year head coach Sarah Bernson has found a unique way to kickoff the preseason, taking GW Volleyball out of its home confines at the Smith Center and instead venturing about a mile south in the shadow of the Lincoln Memorial. For the second straight year, GW opened its preseason camp with an outdoor practice at the Lincoln Memorial sand courts, competing in a pool play beach volleyball tournament.
The sport itself is quite different than indoor volleyball with players adjusting to new rules and rotating teammates in the 2 v. 2 competition. Communication was the key benefit of the day as described by those new and returning. First-year Paz Dozie-Nnamah admitted she had nerves on day one in a new environment, but was excited to begin her new journey.
