Porcelli Named A-10 Golfer of the Week

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. -- Senior Jack Porcelli has been named the Atlantic 10 Golfer of the Week after winning the Navy Spring Invitational last weekend, the league announced on Friday.
Porcelli earned his first career victory with a 5-over 147 total that left him two shots clear of second-place finisher Owen Quinn of Lehigh on Sunday. The senior from Princeton, New Jersey, opened with a 71 on Saturday and was in a three-way tie for the lead going into Sunday, when rain and cool temperatures made for very difficult scoring conditions. He prevailed by turning in a final-round 76, while the two golfers he shared the lead with to start the day shot 79 and 83, respectively.
Porcelli's individual win also helped GW capture the team championship, which is the school's first since winning the Atlantic 10 Championship back in 2012. The Colonials overcame a nine-stroke deficit in the final round by firing a 305, which was the lowest round of the day by six shots. It marks the first career Player of the Week honor for Porcelli.
