Spring Season Underway for Volleyball

WASHINGTON - The George Washington volleyball team officially opened its spring season on Monday by commencing the 20-hour-a-week practice period under the direction of head coach Sarah Bernson.
"This spring is a transition point for us as we have been carrying on our growth from the fall, but also really breaking down the technical and skill execution of this program and new staff," said Bernson. "Every spring is a chance to focus on the individual development, but this group is experiencing it first with me and our new philosophy."
Eight letterwinners from the fall are in the gym this spring looking to build on what was a promising conclusion to the 2017 season where the Colonials made history as the first No. 6 seed in A-10 Championship history to win a postseason game. GW outlasted No. 3 seed Saint Louis in five sets at the A.J. Palumbo Center in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to advance to the A-10 Championship Semifinals.
"The fall 2017 season was about trusting the process and improving our team execution while simultaneously getting better with the skills," said Bernson. "This spring is about how we can exponentially get better with our technique so that we have a sound foundation for fall. This team is determined and I love their drive to get better."
The Colonials will participate in a quartet of spring events, including a pair at the Charles E. Smith Center that are free and open to the public. The full spring schedule is listed below.
