Rizzotti Tabbed as USA National Team Assistant Coach

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. - George Washington women's basketball head coach Jennifer Rizzotti has been tabbed to serve as an assistant coach for the United States National Team this spring and fall, US National Team Head Coach Dawn Staley announced on Wednesday.
Rizzotti will join assistant coaches Dan Hughes (Seattle Storm) and Cheryl Reeve (Minnesota Lynx) on the sidelines along with Staley (South Carolina) for the upcoming US National Team Training Camp (April 24-26 in Seattle, Wash.) and for the 2018 FIBA World Cup of Basketball (Sept. 22-30 in Tenerife, Spain).
"I'm thrilled to be named to the USA National Team staff," said Rizzotti, whose GW squad captured the 2018 Atlantic 10 Conference Tournament title and enters the NCAA Tournament with a 19-13 record. "It's an honor not only to work with Dawn, Cheryl and Dan, but also with the best basketball players in the world, in this opportunity to help USA Basketball win another World Cup."
Rizzotti has extensive coaching experience with USA Basketball, most recently serving as a court coach during the 2017 Women's National Team Training Camp in Santa Barbara, California, in October.
She also has experience working with head coach Dawn Staley, who was an assistant coach for the National Team at the 2016 Rio Olympics where the United States won their fourth consecutive gold medal. Rizzotti served as a member of the support staff, working in advance scouting, during the USA's gold medal run.
"I gained a lot of great experience while working very closely with Dawn in preparing scouts for the 2016 Olympics," said Rizzotti. "I'm familiar with her style, and I feel I'll be a good asset going forward with the team's preparation. Also, having played in the WNBA and worked as a scout for the USA National Team from 2014-16, I am familiar with how the players like to handle the condensed training opportunities we have leading up to competition."
