Colonials host Dayton for Senior Day on Sunday
KICKING OFF: The George Washington women's soccer squad will head to Philadelphia to face Saint Joseph's on Thursday at 7 p.m. before returning home to host Dayton at the GW Soccer Field on the Mount Vernon Campus on Sunday for Senior Day at 1 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT: The Colonials finished their weekend undefeated with a 4-1 victory over Richmond on Sunday afternoon. GW improves to 8-5-1 on the season, 4-2-0 in A-10 play, with its third consecutive victory.
SENIOR SHOUTOUT: The Colonials will honor seniors Mia Barreda, Dani Frese, Charley Prevost, and Anna Tapen in a Senior Day ceremony at 12:45 p.m. before kickoff against Dayton.
OFFENSIVE UPTICK: GW enters the weekend on a three-match win-streak, its longest string of victories since it opened the season with four. In that span, the Colonials outshot their opponents 46-24 and scored seven goals, four of which came from Pavon. In addition, GW has found the back of the net 11 times so far in A-10 action, a mark that ranks tied for third in the conference.
SHARP SHOOTER: Pavon has scored five goals on 43 shots and has tallied a career-high four assists this season to lead the Buff and Blue with 14 points. The Chicago, Illinois, native, had her best match at St. Bonaventure, where she registered a game-high eight shots, seven of which came on goal, and tallied two goals in 75 minutes of play. As a team, the Colonials rank first in the conference and 15th in the nation with a 0.557 shots on goal percentage.
ALL IN: 24 Colonials got their chance on the pitch during Sunday's match against Richmond. Madi Coyne made her first career start against the Spiders while fellow first-year Alexandra Filipkowski found the back of the net for the first time wearing the Buff and Blue. Annie Pierce, Emily Schmid, Uma Bhatt and Sara Messigner also all checked in for the first time this season to contribute to GW's 4-1 victory.
