Coed Showcase in Boston highlights the weekend
SETTING SAIL: The GW sailing team is set to compete in a trio of regattas this weekend with the highlight being the Coed Showcase hosted by Harvard and MIT in Boston. Additionally, a group of nine Colonials will compete in the Intercollegiate Offshore Regatta at Larchmont Yacht Club in New York, and six sailors will stay on their home course to compete in the Tom Curtis Regatta hosted by Georgetown.
COED SHOWCASE: The regatta serves as a semifinal for the field of 18 interconference teams, with the top nine moving on to the finals in two weeks at Navy. Andrew Sheerin and Tanner Chapko will sail in A Division, Wade Wagner and Michael Houllahan will sail in B Division, and Derek Poon-Tip and Andreea Ranney-Pace will be on hand as extras.
INTERCOLLEGIATE OFFSHORE REGATTA: The unique race features 49 teams and more than 450 sailors from across the country sailing large yachts in Long Island Sound. For the second straight year, GW will be sailing on a 40-foot boat named Soulmates. The Colonials' crew consists of Drew Bennett, John DeRuff, Adam DiDomizio, Griffin Segalla, Marie Line, Cassondra Parker, Sam Mandell and Keily Gleason.
TOM CURTIS REGATTA: A younger group of Colonials heads to this local coed regatta hosted by Georgetown at the Washington Sailing Marina. GW will enter three boats: Soenke Jordan and Zach Lehan; Ryan Janov and Matthew Priebe; and Marshall McCraw and Blair Lalor.
