Sailing Set for Busy Qualifying Weekend
9/21/2017 12:00:00 AM | Sailing
SETTING SAIL: The GW sailing team has a busy weekend ahead of it with one conference championship race and two league championship qualifiers on the slate.
The Colonials will head to four regattas in all, including the Faye Bennett at Navy which serves as the MAISA Women's Singlehanded Conference Championship. There, junior Riley Legault will look for a top-four finish to qualify for the Singlehanded National Championship for the third consecutive year.
GW is also set to race in the South Fall Qualifier at Old Dominion, where the Colonials need a top-four finish to earn a berth in the MAISA Coed Conference Championship. The MAISA Laser Eliminator is a second-chance qualifier for the men's singlehanded championship and Adam DiDomizio will try for a top-six result. Finally, the Colonials are also set to compete in the St. Mary's Fall Interconference, against a strong field of 18 coed teams.
