WASHINGTON -- After a standout sophomore season that included his first collegiate victory, five top-10s and a team-best 72.59 scoring average, Logan Lowe of the GW golf team has been named to the 2017 NCAA Division I PING All-Region Team.
GW's Most Valuable Player the past two seasons, Lowe becomes the first Colonial to land a spot on the All-Region Team, which is presented by the Golf Coaches Association of America, since Andres Pumariega in 2012. He is one of four Atlantic 10 golfers honored along with fellow Northeast Region selections Chris Houston, Dawson Jones and Billy Walthouse of Rhode Island.
In just two years, Lowe has quickly put his name among the top golfers to play for GW. He is a two-time All-Atlantic 10 selection, including his freshman season when he was the only rookie to earn the distinction. With a career scoring average of 73.06, he is currently one of just two players with an average under 74, joining Jay Randolph (72.86).
Lowe finished tied for eighth at the 2017 Atlantic 10 Championship at Grand Cypress Golf Club in Orlando, helping the Colonials to a fourth-place finish as a team. The sophomore opened the tournament with a 5-under par 67 and followed with rounds of 74 and 71 to finish with a three-day total of 4-under par 212.
Additionally, he captured his first collegiate victory at the Bash at the Beach Invitational March 13-14 when he shot an even-par 213 to outpace the rest of the 96-man field.
