Cone, Linn Grab A-10 Softball Awards

NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - George Washington softball's freshman Jenna Cone and senior Megan Linn have been named Atlantic 10 Rookie and Player of the Week, respectively, after helping the Colonials to a 4-1 week of play.
Cone supplied the power for the Colonials, blasting three home runs in five games with a double for a 1.235 slugging percentage. The Trabuco Canyon, California, native batted .647 (11-for-17), hitting safely in each of GW's five contests, while tallying an incredible 13 RBIs and scoring nine runs. Defensively, Cone made four starts at third base and one behind the plate, recording nine putouts and 18 assists.
Linn led the Colonials with a .700 average (14-for-20) on the week, driving in two runs and scoring eight as GW's leadoff batter without a single strikeout. The Corona, California, native doubled three times for an .850 slugging percentage and was a perfect 5-for-5 in stolen base attempts. Starting at shortstop in all five games, Linn recorded eight putouts and seven assists.
Cone and Linn helped GW sweep Coppin State in a mid-week doubleheader and take two-of-three games on the road at A-10 foe La Salle over the weekend.
The weekly honor is the second for Cone after being named A-10 Co-Rookie of the Week on March 6. Linn's Player of the Week nod is the first of her career.
