SETTING SAIL: The George Washington sailing team will compete in a trio of regattas this weekend as it heads to the Washington College Team Race, the St. Mary's Women's Interconference, and the Graham Hall Team Race.
LINEUP: At the Washington College Team Race, Collin Kennedy, Mercedes McPhee, Rhodes Garner, Zach Lehan, Wade Wagner, Gabriella Malek, Sam White, Drew Bennett, and Kelly Gleason will take the water for the Colonials. The starting teams at St. Mary's will be Riley Leagult, Alexnadra Fayer, Aitana Mendiguren, and Emma Mendenhall, with alternates Sarah Alexander, Marie Line, and Sarah Noyse. Finally, at the Graham Hall Team Race, Brendan Shanahan, Andreea Ranney-Pace, Belle Stratchan, Kai Friesecke, Briggs D'Eliscu, Andrew Sheerin, Matt Homa, Derek Poon-Tip, Shira Golub, and Connor West are set to sail for GW.
BILLY'S BULLETS: "We are returning to the Washington College Team Race having won the event in 2015 and finished fourth last year. With a solid group of senior leadership infused with some young talent, I think we'll put up a good result again," said head coach Billy Martin. "We are using St. Mary's Women's to deepen our women's team and give young sailors well deserved starting spots, which I hope they use to learn as much as possible. This will be a tough event, but the team can handle it. Our team racing teams are still racking up a ton of time on the water getting prepared for our team racing qualifier on April 8-9 at SUNY Maritime. The Graham Hall Team Race at Navy will prove to be our toughest test yet, and we are brining an arsenal of GW sailors fit for the challenge."
HOW TO FOLLOW: Scores for all three regattas can be followed here.
UP NEXT: GW will continue team racing at the Szambecki Team Race next weekend.
