On Tyler's final rebound of the game
Typical fashion â€" Tyler Cavanaugh coming to save the day, getting a monster rebound in a crowd of eight people. You know, 29 points and seven rebounds; he put on his superman cape and did what he does, and came out with a huge win. We had a rough game defensively. We weren't all there. We were kind of struggling with our ball screen stuff. They were missing their best player, I don't know if we let down or something. Again, it's March, so survive and advance.
On Jair Bolden
Jair is really confident; he's been playing really well. He still has some freshman moments when he tries to make flashy plays that don't need to be that flashy. Sometimes he needs to have more substance, but overall he's making some really big plays.
On Patrick Steeves
Pat Steeves had another great night. He's starting to find his groove. He's had some injuries earlier this season, so it's pretty cool to see him play the way he's played in this second half of the year, having some pretty monster games. I'm really happy for him. He's a crafty player. Again, I call him the YMCA All-Star Canadian. He has all the scoop shots and double pivots and all that stuff, but he does a good job being patient in the post. A lot of guys tend to back down and back down and rush into it, but he does a good job being patient. Guys know that he's patient, so he does a good job with that. He's a lot stronger than he looks. He's barrel chested and he does a good job of backing guys down and getting them to where he wants them to be. He has long arms and long hands, and soft hands, so he does a good job in the post. Probably the most efficient post scorer. We know that we can at least get a good shot if we throw the ball into him. He's smart enough and he's wise enough to know whether to make a shot or a pass for one of his teammates.
On Yuta Watanabe's defense
Sanford did a good job in the first half getting loose, but I thought we did a pretty good job down the stretch. We switched to ball screens. We contained some really talented players.
On getting to 20 wins
It's huge. It shows that our program is where it needs to be in terms of winning consistently and getting 20 wins consistently throughout the years. I'm hoping that we can continue that moving down the near future here. It's just a nice clean round number to get to, and I'm happy that we were able to go into the postseason to get there.
