ARLINGTON, Va.- The George Washington baseball team completed the series sweep of NJIT in a comeback, 6-2, victory on Sunday afternoon at Tucker Field.

The Colonials (6-10) received a stellar relief effort from freshman Jaret Edwards as the rookie earned his first collegiate victory after 3.2 innings of shutout ball.

Both starters tossed a strong three innings to begin the day, but NJIT broke the stalemate in the fourth after loading the bases on a double, a walk and a hit batter. Another walk plated one and ended freshman Elliott Raimo's day on the mound. Edwards came on in relief and coaxed a sacrifice fly and a ground out to end the inning with NJIT taking a 2-0 lead.

The Colonials responded in the fifth when three-straight walks loaded the bases with one out. Senior Collin Gibbons-Fly then drove in one with a pinch hit single through the left side. Classmate Joey Bartosic followed with a sac fly to knot the game at 2-2.

GW took the lead in the sixth when senior Bobby Campbell blasted his second homer of the season - a two-run shot to put the Colonials ahead, 4-2.

Back-to-back singles from junior Mark Osis and Campbell started another inning of scoring for GW in the eighth as senior Cody Bryant sent a two-RBI double to deep left center, adding some insurance for the Colonials.

Junior Kevin Hodgson dealt a scoreless eighth inning before senior Eddie Muhl took the mound to record the final three outs of the day and secure the 6-2 GW triumph.

Campbell closed the weekend with a strong afternoon, going 2-for-3 with two RBI and two runs scored on Sunday.

In the midst of an eight-game homestand, GW returns to action on Wednesday to host Bryant at 3 p.m.
