NEWPORT NEWS, Va. - George Washington women's tennis junior Marie-Louise Decamps has been named Atlantic 10 Player of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday.
Decamps posted both singles and doubles wins on Friday in the squad's indoor home opener at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center against James Madison. The award is the first career weekly honor for Decamps.
The junior began the day with a key, 6-1, win at the No. 2 doubles spot to help the Colonials secure the early doubles point. Decamps went on to battle for a come-from-behind victory in second-flight play, 4-6, 6-3, 7-5, to keep GW alive and tie the match at 3-3. JMU went on to edge the Colonials, 4-3.
Decamps and the Colonials return to action on Saturday to face A-10 foe Massachusetts in a Homecoming bout at 2 p.m. at the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center.
