WASHINGTON - The George Washington women's tennis team is set to open its indoor home season on Friday when James Madison visits the Southeast Tennis and Learning Center for a 1 p.m. match.
The Colonials (1-1) are coming off a pair of season-opening matches over the weekend, defeating Charlotte, 4-1, on Saturday before falling to 2016 Atlantic 10 runner-up Davidson on Sunday, 4-2.
Sophomore Maria Siopacha leads the Colonials with a perfect 2-0 singles record at the top spot so far on the young spring season and owns a team-best overall 12-4 mark on the year.
The Dukes (2-0) grabbed a pair of wins last week, first shutting out Radford, 7-0, then edging Penn State, 4-3, in comeback fashion.
An ITA Atlantic Region opponent, James Madison's Timea Guibe is the region's No. 19 ranked solo player, while Guibe and Kimmy Herrock pair as the No. 10 duo.
A year ago the Colonials dropped a 5-2 decision on the road to James Madison, as seniors Taylor Nederlander and Allison Hansen claimed a doubles victory.
