A week after winning the MAISA women's championship, the GW sailing team will chase another title as it heads to the War Memorial hosted by Hobart and William Smith Colleges on Saturday and Sunday.
The War Memorial serves as the MAISA coed championship for the fall and features a field of the top 18 teams in the conference. GW, which is ranked 15th in Sailing World's national top-20 coed poll, will face off against six ranked teams: No. 1 Georgetown, No. 4 Hobart and William Smith, No. 9 Navy, No. 12 Kings Point, No. 13 St. Mary's and No. 17 Old Dominion.
In each of the past two years, GW has taken third place at the War Memorial and earned one of the eight qualifying spots for the coed Atlantic Coast Championship. This year, the ACC is set to take place Nov. 11-12 at SUNY Maritime.
While the Colonials have yet to finalize their rotations, the lineup consists of Kai Friesecke, Andreea Ranney-Pace, Tanner Chapko, Andrew Sheerin, Matt Homa, Connor West, Shira Golub and Derek Poon-Tip.
