Swimming & Diving Celebrates 2016-2017 Success

George Washington swimming & diving stayed busy on Colonials Weekend, celebrating the past, present and future of the program.
The festivities began Friday afternoon with the GW women dropping a 156-144 decision to Marshall at Charles E. Smith Center Pool. The Colonials claimed eight of 16 events with Emily Zhang a double winner.

On Friday evening, GW held its annual awards banquet in the Colonials Club. At the banquet, the Colonials also handed out hardware recognizing their top student-athletes from a breakout season.

Before Saturday's meet against Boston College, GW unveiled new banners at its home pool recognizing the program's A-10 championship and NCAA appearances.

To cap a great weekend, both our men and women picked up wins over Boston College. The women won 15 of 16 events to beat the Eagles, 181-119. Jake Ortiz and Peter Nachtwey both set diving records to help the men to a 185-115 victory.
