
Men's Swimming & Diving Drops Howard in Dual Opener

Oct. 14, 2017 WASHINGTON - George Washington men's swimming and diving kicked off its dual meet schedule Saturday with a 136-85 win over Howard at Burr Gym Pool.
The Colonials captured all three relays and five different swimmers won individual events in dispatching the host Bison.
HIGHLIGHTS
- Youssef Ragab posted a win in the 200-yard freestyle in his GW debut. The freshman from Egypt won at the wall in 1:45.05, edging Howard's Darrin Asphall by seven hundredths of a second. He also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle.
- Jake Ortiz won the 1-meter diving competition, posting 302.65. He was followed by freshman Nick Tomczyk, who scored 288.15 in his first collegiate meet.
- Moritz Fath completed the 200-yard individual medley in 1:56.43 to win by more than seven seconds. The sophomore from Germany also swam a leg on GW's winning 400-yard freestyle relay.
- Max Forstenhaeusler won the 100-yard backstroke in 52.15 seconds and also anchored GW's win in the 200-yard medley relay. Tommi Wolst pulled a similar double with wins in the 100-yard freestyle (47.69 seconds) and 200-yard freestyle relay.
